Martin B. Basler

A funeral will be held Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 for 89-year-old Martin B. Basler of Ste. Genevieve who died Saturday, February 17th at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center.

He was born December 14th, 1917 in Bloomsdale, the son of Francis Xavier and Ida Mary Basler who both preceded him in death.

He married Rita Marie Basler on October 2nd, 1950. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son and daughter in law, Wayne M. and Janet Basler of Sorrento, Florida; a daughter, Helen and Michael M. Roth of Ste. Genevieve; a brother, Andrew F. Basler of Bloomsdale; a sister, Roberta A. Brieg of Perryville; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Ervin A. and Marvin B. Basler; a daughter, Marilyn G. Basler; a son in law, David J. Weiler; three brothers, Eli J., Valentine A. and Peter A. Basler; and six sisters, Barbara C. Perry, Mary L. Werner, Florence G. Buckholtz, Bernice M. Geiler, Frances P. Bauman, and Rose Marie Basler.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1037 and VFW Post No. 2210.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 20th at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. The VFW service will be at 7 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus service will be at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral for 89-year-old Martin B. Basler of Ste. Genevieve will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Rev. Daniel Mosley will officiate.

Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery.
