Olivia C. Basler A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 for 92-year-old Olivia C. Basler of Bloomsdale, who died Saturday, April 14th at her residence. She was born August 8th, 1914 in River aux Vases, the daughter of William and Justine (Joggerst) Klein, who both preceded her in death. She married Francis "Franz" Basler on October 17th, 1939. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law: Richard and Dianne Basler of Imperial and Carl "Foxy" and Judy Basler of Oakville; three daughters and a son in law: Sr. Mary Louise Basler, CSJ of Bloomsdale, Justine and Pete Hafner of Oakville and Monica Rozier of Bloomsdale; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline Catlett; a son in law, Michael Rozier; five sisters, Elizabeth Kist-Schent, Leona Lurk, Josephine Loge, Hildagard Baumann and Mary Basler; and six brothers, William, Henry, Wendell, Edward, Frank, Peter and Joseph Klein. She was past president of the Senior Citizens Organization, volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul Society, Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was past president of the St. Ann Sodality and past regent of the Daughters of Isabella. She was employed as a cook at St. Agnes Catholic School and later for the R-II School District of Ste. Genevieve County. She was a member of the St. Agnes Choir and volunteered weekly at the St. Agnes School cafeteria until the age of 90. She attended daily mass until her illness and for many years took the Holy Eucharist to elderly parishioners who were homebound. She was a charter member of the Hill and Dale Garden Club of which she belonged 28 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to make baby quilts for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was dedicated to God, her family, friends and community. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. this (Monday, April 16th) afternoon and evening at the St. Agnes Church in Bloomsdale. A funeral for 92-year-old Olivia C. Basler of Bloomsdale will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17th at the St. Agnes Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Revs. Clark Maes and Raymond Oge will co-officiate. Memorials may be made to the Friends of St. Agnes Foundation, St. Vincent de Paul Society in Bloomsdale, Bloomsdale Sunset Park or Jefferson Memorial Hospital. |
