Dr. Gerard Henry DeGenova

A funeral will be held Saturday, January 28th, 2006 for 83-year-old Dr. Gerard Henry DeGenova of Ste. Genevieve, who died Monday, January 23rd, 2006 in his home.

He was born November 10th, 1922 in Bellaire, OH, the son of Felix and Angela (Vitale) DeGenova. They preceded him in death.

He married LaVerne Pilz May 22nd, 1954. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters in law, Mark and Mary Ellen DeGenova of Ste. Genevieve, John and Alison DeGenova of Dallas, TX, Gerry DeGenova; three daughters and sons in law, Ann and Tim Marty of Monticello, IL, Monica and Greg Streetman of Breese, IL, Mary Kay and Mike Basler of St. Louis; two sisters in law, Malvina DeGenova of Bellaire, OH, Jenny DeGenova of New Orleans, LA; 12 grandchildren, Sara Sellars and husband John of Ballwin, MO, Daniel and Gina DeGenova of Ste. Genevieve, Michael, Phillip and Leah Marty of Monticello, IL, Sabrina and Anthony DeGenova of Dallas, TX, Michelle and Christopher Streetman of Breese, IL, Louis and Ella Basler of St. Louis; a nephew, Martin Strussion and wife Mary Jo of Ste. Genevieve.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas; four brothers, Fr. Louis, Phil, Henry and Joseph DeGenova; three sisters, Amy Strussion, Sr. Louis Ann and Sr. Teresa Mary DeGenova.

He practiced medicine in Ste. Genevieve for 35 years, and was the first chief of medical staff at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.

Family will receive guests after 9 a.m. Saturday, January 28th, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve.

A funeral for 83-year-old Dr. Gerard Henry DeGenova of Ste. Genevieve will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 28th, 2006 at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. The Revs. Dan Mosley and John Day will officiate.

His body has been gifted to science.

A luncheon/reception will be held at the Ste. Genevieve Knights of Columbus Hall following the funeral.
