A funeral will be held Friday, August 25th, 2006 for 88-year-old William R. Arnold of Ste. Genevieve who died Tuesday, August 22nd at the Ste. Genevieve Care Center.

He was born July 17th, 1918 in Ste. Genevieve, the son of Frank X. and Olivia (Roth) Arnold, who both preceded him in death.

He married Berniece Gadell on October 8th, 1949. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter in law: Paul and Linda Arnold of Ste. Genevieve and Dennis Arnold of St. Louis; four daughters and sons in law: Therese and David Burgess of Imperial, Linda and Chris Kertz of Ste. Genevieve, Judy and Scott Clark of Hillsboro and Cindy and Tim Sampson of Ste. Genevieve; eight grandchildren: Christina, Kimberly, Tommy, Nichole, Bradley, Brittany, Ashley and Matthew; a brother and sister in law: Leon and Norma Arnold of Ste. Genevieve; and three sisters: Elvina Bahr of Ste. Genevieve, Ellen Siebert of Chaffee and Dorothy Ziegler of Perryville: a brother in law, Frank Naeger.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Thomas Arnold; two sisters, Louise Naeger and Theresa Arnold; and a brother: Francis "Buddy" Arnold; brothers in law Ben Bahr, Bud Ziegler and John Siebert.

He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1037, American Legion Post No. 150, VFW Post No. 2210.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, August 24th at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. The Knights of Columbus will gather at 6:30 p.m.

A funeral for 88-year-old William R. Arnold of Ste. Genevieve will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 25th at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery. The Rev. Daniel Mosley will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Valle schools or to masses.
