Melvin J. ‘Sonny’ Boland

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1st, 2006 for 75-year-old Melvin J. "Sonny" Boland of Indianapolis, Indiana, who died February 15th.

He was born April 25th, 1930 in Festus, the son of Randolph and Zella Pittman Boland who both preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Stacy) Boland; a daughter, Lisa LaJune of Greenwood, Indiana; a son, Randy Boland of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Dianna Ward of Indianapolis; children from his previous marriage to Betty R. (Crocker) Davis: a daughter, Pam Boland of Haiko, Hawaii and a son, Mark J. Boland of Minnith; two sisters, Dorothy Brown of Houston, Texas and Joyce Hennemann of Ste. Genevieve; seven grandchildren: Christopher Frost, Tyson Boland, Lance Taylor, Derek Taylor, Clinton Boland, Krista Boland, Haley LaJune; and one great granddaughter, Kaley Frost.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 1st Marine Division.

He was a member of the Suburban Baptist Church.

He was employed 36 years with Kroger Bakery until his retirement in 1988 as a supervisor.

A memorial service for 75-year-old Melvin J. "Sonny" Boland of Indianapolis, Indiana will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1st at Brushy Church in Minnith.
