Cletus A. Grither A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 20th, 2005 for 77-year-old Cletus A. Grither of Perryville, formerly of St. Mary, who died Sunday, April 17th at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born August 26th, 1927 in St. Mary, the son of William Grither and Augusta (Roth) Grither, who both preceded him in death. He married Della P. Smith on May 28th, 1949. She survives in Perryville. Survivors also include: a son and daughter in law, Bruce and Linda Grither of Indianapolis, Indiana; a daughter and son in law, Gail and Norbert Myers of Brewer; a sister and brother in law, Martha and William Abernathy of Festus; five grandchildren, Lisa and Scott Myers, and Shaun, Miranda and Brian Grither; two great grandchildren, MacKenzie and Jacob Cossell. Three sisters, Catherine Stackle, Regina Winkler and Veronica Grither and three brothers, Wilford, Walter and Charles Grither, also preceded him in death. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 133 in Perryville, Immaculate Conception Church in St. Mary, U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in Signal Corps, rose to the rank of sergeant and received the Good Conduct and American Defense Medals. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 19th at the Basler Funeral Home in St. Mary. A funeral for 77-year-old Cletus A. Grither of Perryville, formerly of St. Mary, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20th at the Immaculate Conception Church in St. Mary. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Richard Kasznel will officiate. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. |
