Medford J. Filer
Funeral service will be held Thursday,
Nov. 4 for 84-year-old Medford J. Filer of Festus who passed away Tuesday,
Nov. 2 at the Baisch Care Center in DeSoto.
He was born
on June 25, 1920 in Marble Hill, the son of the late Henry and Doshia
(Lincoln) Filer.
He is
survived by the following children and their spouses: Michael and Angie
Filer of Lawrenceton; Richard and Jackie Filer of Festus; Gwen and Ray Walsh
of Festus; Stephen and Sharon Filer of Festus; Gregory and Linda Filer of
Fort Wayne, IN; Mark and Sandy Filer of St. Louis; and Mary Beth and Patrick
Werner of Festus.
Fourteen
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nephews,
cousins and many dear friends also survive him.
He
served in the U.s. Army during World War II. He retired as a glass worker
with the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Crystal City.
Visitation
will be Wednesday, Nov. 3 from 4-8 p.m. at the Wood Family Funeral Home.
Funeral
mass for Medford J. Filer will be held Nov. 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anne
Catholic Church in French Village. Fr. Brad Modde will officiate. Burial
will be in the St. Anne Church Cemetery.
