Alvin C. Donze, Sr. Funeral service will be held Thursday. Dec. 30 for 72-year-old Alvin C. Donze Sr. of Ste. Genevieve who died Monday, Dec. 27 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City. He was born on Aug. 13, 1932 in Ozora, the son of the late Harry J and Marie T. (Koller) Donze. Four sons and daughters-in-law and five daughters and sons-in-law survive him: Alvin C. and Melanie Donze Jr. of Ozora; Robert J. and Rhonda Donze of Yorktown, Va.; James G. and Debra Donze of Ste. Genevieve; Steven G. and Anne Donze of Bloomsdale; Deborah M. Donze of Ste. Genevieve; Catherine A. and Mark Kreutner of Ste. Genevieve; Geri Ellen and Deacon Doug Boyer of Belleville, Ill.; Mary Beth and Carl Huxel of Washington, Mo.; and Teresa Donze McClure of Ste. Genevieve. Two brothers and one sister survive: Wilbur Donze of Ste. Genevieve; Milton Donze of Ozora; and Mathilda Borcherts of Denver, Co. Twenty-eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lucille Donze and two brothers, Joesph Donze and Donald Donze. Mr. Donze was a retired agent of Shelter Insurance Companies and founder of Donze Construction prior to that; he also worked as a farmer, supplementing the income with custom lime hauling, commercial combining and measuring wheat of the ASC office. He also was an agent for Rain and Hail Crop Insurance until the time of his death. He was active in the Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church; past president and member of the Chamber of Commerce; Knights of Columbus Council 1037; Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly; past member of the Ste. Genevieve Rotary Club and Elks; founding member of the Ste. Genevieve High School Sports Association; past president of the Ste. Genevieve School District R-II PTA; lifetime member of the Ste. Genevieve Foundation for Restoration. Past officer and board member of the I.D.C.; founding board member of the Ste. Genevieve Community Center Board; member of the Levee District-II board; and active in his winter home park in Harlingen, Tex., and St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Basler Funeral Home. The Knights of Columbus will meet at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. Daniel Mosley will officiate. Burial will be at Valle Spring Cemetery. |
