A funeral was held today, Monday, September 23rd, 2002 for 85-year-old Oliver "Ollie" G. Grass of Ste. Genevieve who died Friday, September 20th, 2002 at St. Mary's Health Center in Richmond Heights.

He was born Thursday, July 26th, 1917 in Zell, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Zerwig) Grass who both preceded him in death.

He married Leona Steiger on November 27th, 1940 in Ste. Genevieve.

He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Barbara and Dr. Gerald Giesler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Janet and Barry Nickelson of Jackson.

He is also survived by a brother, Russell Grass of the state of California.

Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Gilbert and Emanuel Grass.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1037 and American Legion Post No. 150, both in Ste. Genevieve.

He was the owner and operator of Grass Auto Sales, the community's Chrysler-Plymouth dealership for many years.

A funeral service for 85-year-old Oliver G. "Ollie" Grass was held today, Monday, September 23rd, 2002, at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Burial was in the Valle Spring Cemetery. The Rev. John Deken officiated.

Funeral arrangements were by the Basler Funeral Home.
