Funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 for 88-year-old Ira J. Franklin of St. Mary who died Thursday, Sept. 5 at his residence.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1914 in Sereno, the son of the late Charles William "Jack" and Elizabeth (Cissell) Franklin.

He was married to Rose Emma (Bruckerhoff) Franklin on July 25, 1936. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by the following children: Floyd Franklin of Brewer; Cecil Franklin of Oak Ridge; Kay Franklin of Kona, Hawaii; Audry Schmelzle of Ste. Genevieve; Mary Jane Franklin of Ironton; and Rita (Alberto) Pucong of Kona, Hawaii.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Harvey, Pete, Howard and Carl Franklin, and by three sisters, Mamie Brewer, Coreen Keller and Lillian Tucker.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 8 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at the Basler Funeral Home in St. Mary.

Funeral service for Ira J. Franklin will be Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in St. Mary. Burial will be in the immaculate Conception Cemetery.
