Alice Captola Boyd Funeral service was held Thursday, June 27, 2002 for 84-year-old Alice Captola Boyd of Farmington who passed away on Monday, June 24 at Parkland Health Center. She was born on Feb. 5, 1918 in Ste. Genevieve County, the daughtr of the late neal Clarence and Effie (Thurman) Pirtle. She is survived by a son, Jimmie D. and wife Rebecca Boyd of Coffman, by two daughters, Janice K. (twin sister to Joyce) and husband Jimmie Gann, Sr. of Farmington and Cheryl and husband Donald Cartee of Coffman, by a son-in-law, Fred Steckman of Hermosa, SD, by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her husband, Elijah "Buster" Boyd, a daughter, Joyce Steckman, three brothers, four sisters, and a great-grandaughter, Andrea Jean Boyd, preceded her in death. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 338 of St. Marys Lodge and a past Worthy Matron. She was also a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church of St. Marys, and a member of the Pine Log Baptist Church of Coffman. Funeral service for Alice Captola Boyd was held Thursday, June 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Rev. Don Estes officiated. Burial was in the Mayberry Cemetey at Avon. Memorials may be directed to the Mayberry Cemetery.
