Harry A. "Gunnie" Grieshaber A funeral will be held Monday, December 9th, 2002 for 95-year-old Harry A. "Gunnie" Grieshaber of Ste. Genevieve, who died Thursday, December 5th, 2002 at his home. He was born August 21st, 1907 in Ste. Genevieve, the son of Bernard and Louise Grieshaber, who both preceded him in death. He married Lillian R. Herman in 1932 in St. Louis. She also preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Dr. Aloysius Grieshaber and a daughter, Patricia Ann Simpson -- both of St. Louis. Survivors also include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister. He was a riverboat captain on the Mississippi River for more than 40 years. He worked for the Corps of Engineers on dredgeboats for 25 years. Later, he was captain of the Missouri-Illinois Railroad "transfer" boat at Little Rock Landing in Ste. Genevieve for 11 years. He ended his riverboat career as a pilot for the Admiral in St. Louis. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, December 8th at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. A funeral service for 95-year-old Harry A. "Gunnie" Grieshaber will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 9th at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery with Rev. John Deken officiating. Memorials may be made to the Valle Schools Foundation.
