August "Gus" M. Hoog

Funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 for 79-year-old August "Gus" M. Hoog who died Thursday, Oct. 12 at Barnes Jewish Hospital.

He was born on July 20, 1921 in Ste. Genevieve, the son of the late Simon Hoog and Louise Spraul.

He was married to Winogene Jenzen. She survives.

Three sons survive, Christopher Hoog of Ste. Genevieve; Martin Hoog of Belleville, Ill.; and Robert Hoog of Ste. Genevieve.

Three stepchildren survive, Frank Munoz of Ste. Genevieve; Tom Munoz of Ste. Genevieve; and Barbara Simpson of Chaffee.

One brother and two sisters survive, Joseph Hoog of Ste. Genevieve, Marie Bresler of Fort Meyers, Fla. and Martha Koller of Ste. Genevieve.

Also surviving are one grandchild and 11 step-grandchildren.

Four brothers and one sister, Albert Hoog, Alice Hoog, Feliz Hoog, Frank Hoog and Henry Hoog, preceded him in death.

He served in the Navy from February 29, 1944 to April 3, 1946.

He was a member of VFW Post 2210.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 at the Basler Funeral Home. The VFW will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service for August "Gus" M. Hoog will be Monday, Oct. 15, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Church of Ste. Genevieve. Rev. John Deken will officiate. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery.
