Merwin E. ‘Buck’ Drury A funeral service will be held Friday, December 29th, 2000 for 84-year-old Merwin E. "Buck" Drury of Ste. Genevieve, who died Wednesday, December 27th at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. He was born November 27th, 1916 in Bloomsdale, the son of Edgar Drury and Elizabeth Jokerst who both preceded in death. He married Anna Mae Schilly on September 28th, 1942 in Ste. Genevieve. She survives. Two sons also survive him: James D. "Butch" Drury of Chicago, Illinois and Mark M. Drury of Nashville, Tennessee. Two daughters also survive him: Jane M. Drury of Piedmont and Lynn L. Drury of Hollywood, Florida. One sister, Betty Carver of Bloomsdale, also survives. Two grandchildren survive. One sister also preceded him in death. He attended the Church of Ste. Genevieve. He was an electrician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 150, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1848 and VFW Post No. 2210, where he was past post commander. He was a past director of the Bank of Bloomsdale. He was U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served from October 8th, 1942 to January 8th, 1946. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. this evening (Thursday, December 28th) at the Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. VFW and American Legion services will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral for 84-year-old Merwin E. "Buck" Drury of Ste. Genevieve will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29th at the Church of Ste. Genevieve. Burial will be in the Valle Spring Cemetery. The Rev. John Deken will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Valle Schools Foundation or to the VFW Auxiliary Cancer Fund.
