Guibourd-Valle
House
Built in 1806 by Jacques Guibourd, this poteaux sur-sol (post on sill) home features not only vertical log construction, but also the use of the classic Norman truss. The house was used (from 1806) as a prominent residence until 1971 with the passing of Anna Valle. It was her wish to make the home a memorial to her husband, Jules Felix Valle. The Foundation for the Restoration of Ste. Genevieve maintains the house with all of Mrs. Valle's antiques on display for the public. |
